Description

Tapestry Vine, scientifically known as Cissus discolor, is a tropical climbing plant native to Southeast Asia, particularly Java and Cambodia. Despite its common name, it is not related to true begonias but is a member of the grape family (Vitaceae).

Key Characteristics:

  • Foliage: The plant features elongated, heart-shaped leaves approximately 3 to 6 inches long and 2 to 4 inches wide. The upper surface is deep green with silvery-white mottling and burgundy blotches along the veins, while the underside is deep reddish-purple.

  • Growth Habit: Tapestry Vine is a fast-growing, evergreen climber that can reach lengths of 6 to 8 feet or more. It is ideal for hanging baskets, trellises, or as a cascading plant in containers.
