Description

Drumstick primrose (Primula denticulata) is a flashy, easy to grow primrose for the woodland or bog garden. Globose umbels bob above large ‘leafy’ leaves in early spring. Flower color may range from purple to pink to white but they always have yellow eyes.

Happiest in moist, humus rich soil. Grow it in the lightly shaded rock garden, the woodland, or the bog garden where it will thrive in humus rich or very moist soil. The large leaves can look a bit worn as the season progresses so it is best to hide them amongst ferns or other plants that come into their own later in the season. Self sows readily.
