There is nothing quite like the intoxicating scent of Pink Jasmine (Jasminum polyanthum) to tell you that spring has officially arrived. I often tell folks at the garden center that if you want a plant that works as hard as you do, this evergreen vine is the one.

It starts with those deep rose-pink buds that burst into a sea of snowy white, star-shaped flowers. Because it’s a vigorous climber, it’s perfect for training over a trellis or a sunny porch railing where you can enjoy that perfume every time you walk by.

To keep yours happy, plant it in well-drained soil and give it plenty of bright, indirect light. While it loves a regular drink, be sure not to let its “feet” stay soggy. A little tip from my garden to yours: prune it right after the blooms fade to keep it tidy and encourage even more flowers for next year.
