Western shooting star is a spring ephemeral wildflower from the Primula family. This US native is generally found growing in the western states along streambanks, wet meadows, seeps, and coastlines. Easy to grow in the moist but well-drained garden where they add a bright splash of color when they burst into bloom in spring. Plants go summer dormant.

Distinctions: Winner of an Award of Garden Merit from the Royal Horticulture Society.
