Description

Fuller’s teasel is an interesting biennial that was once used regularly in the textile industry. The spiny flowers were used to raise the nap on woolen fabrics. The process, known as “fulling,” involved using the teasel heads to comb and tease the fibers, giving the fabric a soft, fluffy texture and the plant its common name.

Today, the arresting dried flowers are most commonly used by florists.

Easy to grow in moderately fertile, well-drained soils in full sun or part shade.
