Description

Achillea millefolium ‘Sonoma Coast’ – Yarrow (Common or Western Yarrow, Milfoil)

A delightful California native from the coastal bluffs near Salmon Creek on the Sonoma Coast, this compact yarrow selection produces lovely creamy white flat-topped flower clusters from spring through fall above fine, aromatic foliage. Exceptionally tough — tolerating deer, drought, fire, clay, foot traffic, and poor soils — it can even be mowed before flowering as a lawn alternative. A reliable, low-water performer for borders, rock gardens, meadows, and cut flower gardens.

Key Features:

  • Evergreen perennial herb; California native (Sonoma Coast)
  • Drought, deer, fire, clay, and foot traffic tolerant
  • Somewhat gopher resistant
  • Attracts butterflies
  • Can be mowed as a lawn alternative
  • Good for containers, borders, rock gardens, and cut/dried flower arrangements
  • Upright and clumping growth habit
